High Energy Formula — Nutrition for Medium and Large Parrots
A formula for year-round feeding, suitable for medium and large parrots, especially African greys, cockatoos, large conures, eclectus, macaws and Pionus parrots.
Dietary Conversion
When transitioning to this diet, all birds should start with the High Energy Formula and remain on it for at least 6 months.
Special Needs
Suitable for moulting birds, particularly active birds, those housed in cold climates or recovering from illness. Use in overweight or underweight birds, or those with liver or kidney disease, should be guided by an avian veterinarian according to each bird’s needs.
Weaning Birds
Feed the High Energy Formula for at least 6 to 9 months.
Breeding Birds
Begin feeding this formula 1 to 2 months before the breeding period and continue until the chicks are weaned. Birds should remain on the High Energy Formula for a minimum of 6 months before returning to the adult maintenance formula.
During breeding and until the chicks are weaned, the amount of certified organic vegetables and fruit offered as supplementary food may be increased.
